What is UNNC?

UNNC is one of 90 neighborhood councils in Los Angeles. All neighborhood councils get a small operating budget from the city each year. Much of the budget is used for community proposed projects and events. Most of the rest is used by UNNC for outreach and education about our mission, since we are only a few years old.
The official UNNC website is at http://unnc.org/
Neighborhood Councils were created by the charter approved by Los Angeles voters in 1999. Councils formed organically out of existing neighborhoods, which was the intent.
If you are interested in really understanding exactly how UNNC operates and what the governing board does for our neighborhoods, and how the money has been spent lately, look at the monthly meeting minutes (http://unnc.org/archives.htm) posted since March 2009.
Because UNNC is a government entity, it has to comply with rules like the Brown Act, which require public notice of meeting agendas and public posting of meeting minutes. Please sign up for the UNNC mailing list as well, which you will find in the upper right corner at http://unnc.org/
